Topping Recipe

  • 1/2 cup frosted flakes or your preferred crumbled cereal
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for added flavor)

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) if you’re baking it separately.
  2. In a bowl, combine the frosted flakes or crumbled cereal with brown sugar and melted butter. Mix until the cereal is evenly coated.
  3. If desired, sprinkle the mixture with ground cinnamon and toss again to distribute the cinnamon flavor throughout.
  4. Spread this mixture on top of your cake batter before baking. If you’re baking it separately, spread it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes or until the mixture is golden brown and crispy. Be careful to watch it closely as it can burn quickly.
  6. Once baked, allow it to cool. It will crisp up further as it cools down.
  7. Sprinkle this crispy topping over your cake after it has baked and slightly cooled for a delightful crunch.

This topping adds a delightful texture and flavor that complements the softness of the cake and the tartness of the apples. Enjoy your baking
