Ultimate Guide to Salted Butterscotch Cookies: A Perfect Balance of Sweet & Salty

Salted Butterscotch Cookies

These cookies are pure nostalgia for me—they remind me of my mom’s kitchen, warm hugs, and that unmistakable sweet-salty aroma filling the air. They’re soft in the center, crispy on the edges, and the touch of sea salt brings out the rich butterscotch flavor in the most beautiful way. Share these with someone who needs a little cozy joy today.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 1/2 cups butterscotch chips

  • Flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into wet ingredients.

  4. Stir in butterscotch chips.

  5. Scoop dough into balls (about 1.5 tablespoons each) and place on baking sheet.

  6. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt.

  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until edges are golden. Let cool on sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake – they’ll firm up as they cool!

  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for later.
