These cookies came from a happy accident—leftover caramel squares and a bag of pretzels turned into a new family favorite! Now they’re a must at every gathering. The crunchy pretzels and gooey caramel wrapped in a soft cookie dough feel like a warm hug with a little crunch. Bake a batch, and share a smile.
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups crushed pretzels
1 cup caramel bits or chopped soft caramels
Optional: flaky sea salt for topping
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream butter and sugars until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, beating well.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to the wet mixture gradually.
Fold in crushed pretzels and caramel pieces.
Scoop dough into balls (about 1.5 tbsp each). Place on baking sheet, leaving space between.
Bake 10–12 minutes until golden around the edges. Cool on pan for 5 minutes.
Sprinkle with sea salt while warm if desired.
Use soft caramel bits for even melting.
Add a handful of chocolate chips for a twist!
