When I was little, my grandmother would bake these warm, buttery ham and cheese biscuits every Sunday morning. The smell filled the whole house and woke everyone up with a smile. Today, I’m sharing this family favorite with you—perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy snack. Try it out and bring a little extra joy to your kitchen!
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold butter (cut into small cubes)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup diced cooked ham
3/4 cup buttermilk (plus a little more if needed)
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture looks crumbly.
Stir in the cheese and ham until evenly distributed.
Add the buttermilk and gently mix until a dough forms. Do not overwork it.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Serve warm and enjoy the melty, savory goodness!
For extra flavor, brush the tops with a little melted butter right after baking!
