Ham and Cheese Biscuits

When I was little, my grandmother would bake these warm, buttery ham and cheese biscuits every Sunday morning. The smell filled the whole house and woke everyone up with a smile. Today, I’m sharing this family favorite with you—perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a cozy snack. Try it out and bring a little extra joy to your kitchen!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup cold butter (cut into small cubes)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup diced cooked ham

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (plus a little more if needed)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture looks crumbly.

  • Stir in the cheese and ham until evenly distributed.

  • Add the buttermilk and gently mix until a dough forms. Do not overwork it.

  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.

  • Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them on the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

  • Serve warm and enjoy the melty, savory goodness!

Notes

For extra flavor, brush the tops with a little melted butter right after baking!
