Easter Dirt Cups

Easter Dirt Cups are a fun and festive dessert perfect for Easter celebrations! This no-bake treat combines creamy pudding, crushed Oreo cookies, and colorful Easter candies like Peeps and candy eggs. It’s easy to make, kid-friendly, and a great way to add a touch of whimsy to your holiday table. Plus, you can customize the colors and toppings to match your Easter theme!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3.9 oz.) vanilla instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container (8 oz.) Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 package Oreo cookies (finely crushed, with filling removed)
  • Green food coloring (or other colors of your choice)
  • Shredded coconut (for “grass”)
  • Easter Peeps (marshmallow chicks)
  • Candy eggs (mini chocolate eggs or jelly beans)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pudding:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes. Let it set for 5 minutes until thickened.
  2. Color the Pudding:
Divide the pudding mixture into two bowls. Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl to create your desired colors (e.g., purple and pink for Easter pastels). Stir until evenly colored.
  3. Fold in Cool Whip:
Gently fold the thawed Cool Whip into each bowl of colored pudding until well combined.
  4. Layer the Dirt Cups:
    • Add 1 tablespoon of crushed Oreo cookies to the bottom of each mason jar or serving cup.
    • Top with a layer of colored pudding mixture.
    • Repeat the layers, alternating between crushed cookies and pudding, until the cups are nearly full. End with a layer of crushed cookies on top.
  5. Chill:
Refrigerate the dirt cups for at least 1 hour to allow the layers to set.
  6. Prepare the Coconut “Grass”:
Add shredded coconut to a container with a lid. Add a few drops of green food coloring and a touch of water. Shake vigorously until the coconut is evenly colored. Spread it out on a paper towel to dry slightly.
  7. Add Toppings:
Right before serving, sprinkle the green coconut “grass” on top of each dirt cup. Add Easter Peeps and candy eggs for a festive finish.

Notes

  • Use clear cups or mason jars to show off the colorful layers.
  • Customize the colors to match your Easter theme (e.g., pastel pink, blue, yellow, or purple).
  • For a richer flavor, use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla.
  • If you don’t have Peeps, you can use other Easter-themed candies or decorations.
