Ingredients

Scale

For the Cake:

  • 1 box of your favorite cake mix (vanilla, lemon, or yellow works well)
  • Ingredients listed on the cake mix box (eggs, oil, water, etc.)

For the Frosting:

  • 2 cups white frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • Green food coloring
  • 1 cup additional white frosting (for the basket handle effect)

For Decorating:

  • Assorted Easter candies (mini eggs, marshmallow bunnies, jellybeans, etc.)
  • Aluminum foil
  • A headband or ribbon (for the basket handle)

Instructions

Step 1: Bake the Bundt Cake

  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions.
  2. Prepare the cake batter as directed on the box.
  3. Grease and flour a Bundt cake pan to prevent sticking.
  4. Pour the batter into the pan and bake as instructed.
  5. Let the cake cool completely before decorating.

Step 2: Prepare the Frosting

  1. Divide the white frosting into two bowls.
  2. Leave one bowl of frosting white for the base layer.
  3. Add green food coloring to the second bowl and mix until you achieve a bright grass-like green.

Step 3: Decorate the Cake

Step 1: Pipe the First Layer of White Frosting

  • Fill a piping bag or a sturdy Ziploc bag with the white frosting.
  • Cut a small hole (about 1/2 inch) in the tip of the bag.
  • Pipe the frosting in a zigzag pattern from the middle of the cake to halfway down the sides, creating loops at each end. This will form the base of your basket.

Step 2: Pipe the First Layer of Green Frosting

  • Fill another piping bag or Ziploc bag with the green frosting.
  • Cut a smaller hole (about 1/4 inch) in the tip.
  • Pipe a zigzag layer of green frosting on the top of the cake to resemble grass.

Step 3: Add Another Layer of Green Frosting

  • Go over the top of the cake again with the green frosting, this time making it look wild and uneven to mimic the texture of grass.

Step 4: Make a Tinfoil Ball

  • Crumple a piece of aluminum foil into a ball and place it in the center hole of the Bundt cake. This will act as a base for the candies and prevent you from needing to fill the entire hole with treats.

Step 5: Decorate with Candy

  • Add your favorite Easter candies, such as mini eggs, marshmallow bunnies, or jellybeans, to the top of the cake.
  • Place a headband or ribbon around the cake to create the basket handle.

Step 6: Show Off Your Easter Basket Bundt Cake!

  • Display your masterpiece as the centerpiece of your Easter table. It’s sure to impress your guests and bring a smile to everyone’s face!

Notes

  • Use high-quality Ziploc bags for piping to avoid splitting.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, a plastic sandwich bag with the corner snipped off works just as well.
  • Get creative with your candy decorations—use whatever Easter treats you love!
  • For a homemade touch, make your own frosting using butter, powdered sugar, and a splash of milk.
