1 box chocolate cake mix (your favorite brand)
3 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
1 cup chopped maraschino cherries (drained and patted dry)
1 cup mini chocolate chips
1 tsp almond extract
Optional: extra cherries and chocolate shavings for topping
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, oil, water, and almond extract. Mix until smooth (about 2 minutes).
Gently fold in the chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let cool completely. Top with extra cherries and chocolate shavings if desired.
For extra richness, use cherry juice instead of water.
Want it extra moist? Add a spoonful of sour cream to the batter.
Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a dreamy dessert combo!
