Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (your favorite brand)

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries (drained and patted dry)

  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips

  • 1 tsp almond extract

  • Optional: extra cherries and chocolate shavings for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.

  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, oil, water, and almond extract. Mix until smooth (about 2 minutes).

  • Gently fold in the chopped cherries and chocolate chips.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Let cool completely. Top with extra cherries and chocolate shavings if desired.
