Big Mac Tacos (Smash Burger Tacos): The Ultimate Fusion Recipe You Need to Try

Have you ever wished your favorite Big Mac could be handheld like a taco? Well, dreams do come true! These Big Mac Tacos (also known as Smash Burger Tacos) combine everything you love about the classic burger – juicy beef, melty cheese, crisp lettuce, and that famous special sauce – all wrapped in a soft tortilla. It’s a TikTok sensation, and once you try it, you’ll see why!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Burgers:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20), divided into 4 (4oz) patties
  • 4 (6-inch) flour tortillas
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • ¼ cup Big Mac sauce (recipe below)
  • ¾ cup shredded lettuce
  • 3 tbsp minced white onion
  • 12 dill pickle slices

For the Big Mac Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1½ tbsp Dijon mustard or yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp grated white onion
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder

Instructions

1. Make the Big Mac Sauce:
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients until smooth. Transfer to a jar or airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

2. Prepare the Burgers:

  • Spread each 4oz beef patty evenly over a flour tortilla, covering almost the entire surface. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until lightly smoking.
  • Place one or two tortillas (meat side down) in the skillet and press lightly with a spatula. Cook for 4-5 minutes, then flip.
  • Add a slice of cheese to each patty and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and the beef is fully cooked. Repeat with the remaining patties.

3. Assemble the Tacos:

  • Drizzle 1-2 tablespoons of Big Mac sauce over each taco.
  • Top with shredded lettuce, minced onion, and 3 pickle slices.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Use 80/20 ground beef for the perfect balance of juiciness and flavor.
  2. Press the patties thinly to ensure they cook quickly and evenly.
  3. Warm the tortillas before assembling for a softer, more pliable taco.
  4. Make the sauce ahead of time to let the flavors meld together.
  5. Customize your toppings—add tomatoes, bacon, or even a sprinkle of sesame seeds for extra flair.
