Rice Krispie Treat Easter Eggs

These Rice Krispie Treat Easter Eggs are a fun, colorful, and easy-to-make treat perfect for the spring season! They’re a hit with kids and adults alike, and the best part is that they’re no-bake and require just a few simple ingredients. Customize them with your favorite food coloring for a festive touch. Plus, they’re a great activity to do with little ones!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 6 tbsp butter
  • Food coloring (your choice of colors)
  • Plastic Easter eggs (for molding)
  • Nonstick cooking spray (like Pam)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and marshmallows: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and marshmallows. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
  2. Divide the mixture: Split the melted marshmallow mixture evenly into two separate bowls.
  3. Add food coloring: Add a few drops of food coloring to one bowl and mix until the color is evenly distributed. Repeat with the second bowl using a different color if desired.
  4. Mix in the cereal: Add 3 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to each bowl and gently stir until the cereal is fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Prepare the plastic eggs: Spray the inside of the plastic Easter eggs with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Shape the eggs: Press the colored Rice Krispie mixture into the plastic eggs, packing it tightly. Close the eggs and let them sit for 5-10 minutes to set.
  7. Remove the eggs: Carefully open the plastic eggs and pop out the Rice Krispie treats. You’ll have adorable Easter egg-shaped treats!
  8. Serve and enjoy: Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors without adding extra liquid.
  • Spray your hands with nonstick spray to easily press the mixture into the plastic eggs.
  • For extra fun, drizzle melted chocolate or sprinkle edible glitter on the eggs after they’re set.
  • If you don’t have plastic Easter eggs, you can shape the mixture into egg shapes by hand.
