Fluffy Condensed Milk Bread: The Ultimate Soft and Sweet Homemade Delight

Fluffy Condensed Milk Bread

Every Sunday, my grandmother would knead dough with love, humming tunes from her youth. Her secret? A touch of sweet condensed milk that made the bread irresistibly soft. This recipe brings back those warm kitchen memories. Try it out and share it with someone who loves home-baked goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup warm milk

  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk

  • 1 egg

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, egg, condensed milk, and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.

  3. Add butter gradually and knead until soft and elastic (about 10 mins).

  4. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.

  5. Punch down dough, shape into rolls or place in a loaf pan. Let rise again for 30 minutes.

  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.

  8. Brush with a bit of condensed milk or butter for a shiny top.

Notes

  • Use Warm Milk, Not Hot – Milk should be just warm to the touch (around 100°F/38°C) to activate the yeast. Hot milk can kill the yeast!

  • Knead Until Smooth and Stretchy – Proper kneading builds the gluten for that perfect pillowy texture. The dough should pass the “windowpane test” (stretch without tearing).

  • Don’t Rush the Rise – Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free spot. A slow, steady rise builds better flavor and texture.

  • Use Room Temperature Ingredients – Cold eggs or butter can slow down yeast activation and dough consistency.

  • Brush with Butter or Condensed Milk After Baking – This adds shine and helps keep the crust soft.
