Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Mixture:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips

Brownie Mixture:

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Cheesecake Layer:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, and 1 egg. Beat with an electric hand mixer until smooth.
  3. Stir in the white chocolate chips until well combined. Set aside.

Brownie Mixture:

  1. Create a double boiler: Fill a saucepan with water and bring it to a boil. Turn off the heat and place a heatproof mixing bowl over the saucepan.
  2. In the mixing bowl, combine the cold, cubed butter and milk chocolate chips. Stir until melted and smooth.
  3. Remove the bowl from the heat and mix in the remaining ½ cup sugar and 2 eggs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually stir this into the chocolate mixture until evenly blended.

Assembling the Brownies:

  1. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  2. Carefully spread the cream cheese mixture over the brownie layer.
  3. Top with the remaining brownie batter. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the layers together, creating a marbled effect.

Baking:

  1. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is crinkled and the center is set.
  2. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing.

Notes

  • Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure the cream cheese and eggs are at room temperature for a smoother mixture.
  • Swirling: Don’t over-swirl the layers, or you’ll lose the distinct cheesecake and brownie layers.
  • Testing Doneness: Insert a toothpick into the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter.
